POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS FOR YOUR HEALTH

A cliche that most of us have heard at sometime or another is “if you’ve got your health–you’ve got everything”. Well if that’s true why do so many of us neglect our health so much of the time? One answer is that we haven’t created good health habits, such as eating small nutritious meals and exercising regularly. We may also be hanging onto bad health habits such as regularly eating at fast food restaurants or “all you can eat” buffet restaurants and consuming sugary snacks and drinks. Well, in my case I’ve “been there–done that”–I only recently read the Nutrition Label on a box of breakfast cereal and discovered to my surprise that a box of cereal contains nine servings–not one.

My weight has “yo-yoed” my entire adult life (sound familiar?) from a low of about 180 to a high of about 220 and only went down when I was on some type of restrictive diet. The problem was that it took a lot of emotional energy to stay on the diets so eventually I would get tired of fighting the battle and gain all of my lost weight back–I’ll bet you’ve experienced that too. I’m usually a fairly healthy eater but most of my life I’ve been a BIG EATER–I used to regularly eat 4 Burger King Whoppers at one meal–only 3 if I was trying to “cut-back”. Not only does that sound absurd–it is absurd but I really thought I needed to eat that much to feel full. I started using the Positive Affirmations for Weight-Loss below and have lost 15 pounds in the last 7 weeks and I can honestly say that it’s the easiest weight-loss I’ve ever had. The Positive Affirmations are changing my Self-Talk about my eating and exercise habits so that I’ve lost the weight without dieting or massive amounts of exercise. The really great thing is that by changing my internal dialogue (self-talk) I’m making better choices about what I eat, how much I eat and how often I exercise and it’s really hard to tell if it’s a conscious choice or a sub-conscious choice. That’s why I say it’s the easiest weight-loss I’ve ever had–I’m not trying to fight my internal programming I’m simply  changing it. Another really great thing is that I’m not concerned about gaining the weight back (in fact I’ll continue to lose down to my ideal weight) because I’m making a permanent lifestyle change not temporarily dieting.

If you’re tired of dieting when you know from experience the lost weight will return I encourage you to give the Positive Affirmations a try–even if you want to stay on a diet you can use the Positive Affirmations as an additional weight-loss tool. But please be aware that using Positive Affirmations a few minutes a day will have little if any effect on changing your self-talk–you need to listen to the Positive Affirmations at least 30 minutes a day–and it helps to also have them written out on cards you can carry in your pocket and read in spare moments during the day. The great thing is that it takes almost no effort (just turn on your iPod or Audio Player) to listen to Positive Affirmations–it’s really easy if you have a daily work commute. And you can even listen to them while you’re doing other things or even listening to music.

Our eating and exercise habits aren’t the only things that affect our health though, other things such as unmanaged stress can have dire consequences for our health–both mentally and physically.

There are many good articles about STRESS and STRESS MANAGEMENT (such as at WebMD.com & Mayo Clinic.com) so I won’t duplicate that information here but if you feel too much STRESS on a regular basis I urge you to learn how to manage your STRESS. If you smoke cigarettes you already know the health risk associated with smoking and chances are you’ve already tried to quit many times without success. I’m here to tell you that there is hope–I quit 25 years ago before I knew about Positive Affirmations but my sister Milliann used Positive Affirmations to quit a 30 year habit “cold turkey” a year ago and is still smoke-free. If you are a smoker I urge you to use these Positive Affirmations to help you quit–you’ve got nothing to lose but your smoking habit.

You’ll likely get addicted to using Positive Affirmations because anything that makes you feel good can be addictive but it’s a GOOD ADDICTION so why not give them a try?
